About Me: The Long Edit

I've had a lifelong passion for the written word which led me to sign up for a BA/MA in English Literature at the University of Cambridge. Thanks to my Oxbridge education I have the misfortune to know what a bop is, although I'm proud never to have attended one (at least knowingly).

In 2009, life and love brought me to Prague, the perenially pretty capital of the Czech Republic. It was here that I began my career as a freelance journalist, initially contributing articles on everything from veggie restaurants to guerilla knitting to The Prague Post. I soon also began to spread my freelance writer wings and wrote Prague-related insider features for a variety of in-flight magazines. I felt proud that my work was in print next to the sick bags.

While in Lois Lane mode on behalf of brands like Wizz Air, easyJet and Jet2 I've tackled Czech karaoke, fringe theatre, Michelin-starred chefs, Vietnamese foodie bloggers, sweary enfant-terrible artists and grumpy shop owners who claimed not to require free publicity.

I was fortunate to be Expats.cz's cafe reviewer for several years which has left me with both an excellent insider knowledge of the latest hip barista-friendly haunts as well as a rampant caffeine addiction.

My tastiest gig to date was without doubt researching the food-related chapters of the Louis Vuitton 2016 Prague guide which involved eating out daily for nearly three months and then turning my wry observations into sparkling copy.

When I'm not writing, I also find time to teach academic writing to first year English majors at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. I'm also proud to say that I knitted the cowl I'm wearing in my bio pic myself.
